GOOD FRIDAY WAS GOOD!
Christians Together in and around Radstock and Westfield braved the rainy weather for the walk of witness on Good Friday, processing behind a large wooden cross which had been made by Revd Ian Rousell, from St.Peters.
Starting at Radstock Play Park with a hymn and prayer, this year the walk stopped at the miner’s wheel and the Victoria Hall where hymns were sung before walking onwards to Trinity Methodist Church, Westfield. Here the walkers were warmly greeted by the congregation and Midsomer Norton & Radstock Silver Band.
The service was introduced by Rev. Jan Tate from Trinity Radstock & Westfield Methodist, who led us into the first hymn. The powerful and passionate sermon was delivered by Mr Lee Rogers from St.Benedicts Catholic Church. Here he talked about Christ’s last days and what it would feel like looking up at Jesus hanging on the cross, and what that means for us today. Prayers were said by Mr Gary Woods, from Radstock Baptist.
Following this well attended service many stayed for the welcome lunch well into the afternoon. It was good to see friends old and new coming together for this time remembering the love of God who gave his only son to suffer and die, for our sins and conquer death by rising to a new life for us all!
Grateful thanks to those who contributed to make it a memorable day for all to experience.
