Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, before I go about the duties and tasks of this day, I ask you to direct and guide me all through its hours.
May I never for one moment forget your presence.
May I take no step, or decision, without your guidance, and that before I act, to seek your will for me.
Be on my lips, that I may speak no evil word.
Be in my eyes, that I may never linger on any forbidden thing.
Be on my hands, that I may do my own work with diligence, and serve the needs of others with eagerness.
Be in my mind, that no soiled or bitter thought may gain entry.
Be in my heart, that I maybe warm with love for YOU, and to those I meet.
Help me to begin, to continue, and to end this day with YOU: through Jesus Christ my Lord.
Amen
Psalm 43
1 Vindicate me, my God,
and plead my cause
against an unfaithful nation.
Rescue me from those who are
deceitful and wicked.
2 You are God my stronghold.
Why have you rejected me?
Why must I go about mourning,
oppressed by the enemy?
3 Send me your light and your faithful care,
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy mountain,
to the place where you dwell.
4 Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God, my joy and my delight.
I will praise you with the lyre,
O God, my God.
5 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.
Evening Prayer
Eternal an everblessed God, help me this night to lay myself down in peace.
Please give me that peace of mind, which comes from casting all my burdens on YOU, and from leaving myself and my loved ones entirely to Your care.
Please give me that peace, which comes form being in perfect relationship with others, with no misunderstandings between me and them, and with no bitterness to anyone.
Please give me the peace of sins forgiven, which comes from the certainty that, through Jesus Christ, there is no barrier between myself and YOU.
And, above all, please give me the peace of Your presence, and the certainty that in the light and in the dark YOU will never leave me, or forsake me, and that YOU will never let me go: through Jesus Christ my Lord.
Amen
